As of today, there are no human cases of Mexican swine flu in
Singapore. The Health Ministry, however, has raised the Disease Outbreak
Response System Alert status from Yellow to Orange.
There is a real possibility that such cases may surface in Singapore,
the Ministry said in a statement, and the country must be prepared to delay
its spread to Singapore for as long as possible.
The new precautionary measures implemented under the Orange Alert
Status include:
Healthcare Institutions
- Temperature screening and screening for flu-like symptoms for
visitors to clinical care areas would be implemented
- Hospital staff are required to don personal protective equipment in
all areas with patient contact
- Each patient would be restricted to one visitor
Enhanced surveillance
- Those with a travel history to Mexico over the past seven days will
be quarantined for seven days on their return to Singapore and undergo phone
surveillance for symptoms for Mexican swine flu.
Those who develop symptoms will be referred to the Communicable
Diseases Centre (CDC) for a thorough assessment. A dedicated ambulance
service (tel 993) has been activated to convey such patients to CDC. Should
evidence arise that other countries besides Mexico are exporting cases, MOH
will also consider imposing similar conditions for travellers returning from
those areas.
Members of the public who are returning from other affected areas -
the states of New York, California, Kansas and Texas in the United States
and the state of Nova Scotia in Canada - are advised to stay at home for
seven days upon return and check themselves for symptoms for Mexican swine
flu.
They should practice social distancing and refrain from joining mass
gatherings, for e.g. going to the cinemas, shopping malls, or supermarkets.
Those who develop respiratory illness with fever (Temperature > 38 degrees
Celsius) within seven days after their return should put on a surgical mask
and call 993 for an ambulance. They should also disclose their travel
histories to their doctors.
- MOH also encourages schools, workplaces and places of mass gathering
to conduct temperature checks routinely. Those with a higher-than-normal
temperature should be advised to seek treatment immediately.
Recording of all information of all visitors, including the date and
time of visit, personal particulars and contact number of visitors, is
recommended as it will facilitate contact tracing when the need arises.

Singapore Airlines to issue health kits
All passengers on board Singapore Airlines flights to the United
States will be issued health kits containing a thermometer, masks and
antiseptic towels.
For those on flights from the US. thermometers will be provided on a
request basis should they feel unwell.
In addition, cabin and flight crew will undergo mandatory temperature
checks prior to operating a flight.

Singaporean Kids - not the happiest of children
THe ranking speaks volume about Singapore on how their children was
never happy at all. It's time for Singapore to emulate how european
countries succeeds in ensuring them with happiness.
LONDON (AFP) - - The happiest children in Europe are in the Netherlands and Scandinavia but Britain is among the worst places to grow up, according to new British research published Tuesday.
A league table of young people's wellbeing places the Netherlands top of 29 European states, followed by Sweden and Norway, while Britain comes in at a lowly 24th.
The table, focusing on youngsters aged up to 19, was compiled by researchers at York University in northern England for the Child Poverty Action Group (CPAG) using data mainly from 2006.
The researchers assessed the countries using 43 separate criteria, ranging from infant mortality and obesity to factors such as poverty and housing.
Germany was eighth, France was 15th and Britain was ranked only above Romania, Bulgaria, Latvia, Lithuania and Malta.
The Netherlands scored high in all categories, while the Scandinavians were praised for having a low level of child deaths caused by accidents.
Scandinavian children also indulge in less "risky behaviour" -- which the researchers categorised as early sexual intercourse, smoking and drinking -- than their European counterparts.
Norway was top in the provision of housing and the "quality of neighbourhoods."
CPAG said the low ranking of Britain, despite its position among the world's leading economies, was "particularly influenced by the high number of children living in families where no parent works."
The British government said it had made progress on child wellbeing since 2006, but CPAG urged it to include child-friendly measures in Wednesday's Budget announcement as the economic downturn leads to higher unemployment.
CPAG chief executive Kate Green said: "We cannot afford a 'do nothing' Budget for children. The report shows a clear link between high levels of child wellbeing and low levels of child poverty.
"If we fail to protect families during the downturn, progress on child wellbeing could go into reverse."

If you were a peasant...
...and you were killed by the dangerous driving of a government-controlled
newspaper's executive editor (read: an elite), your assailant will get
jailed for 1 day. No, you did not read wrongly - ONE day:
Lim Hong Eng, the 56-year-old executive editor of Shin Min Daily News, was
there to hear the outcome of the appeal against her sentence for knocking
down and injuring a motorcyclist and killing the woman riding pillion with
him. The appeal against her conviction was rejected, but the 11/2-year jail
term dealt by a lower court was cut to a day's jail
If you were an elite....
...and someone informed you that someone else felt like punching you, you
can get that "someone else" (read: a peasant) jailed for 6 months merely for
uttering (not acting out) his disgust for you to a 3rd party!
RAG-AND-BONE man Ng Kim Ngweng was sentenced to six months' jail on Monday
after he was convicted of threatening to cause hurt to a Member of
Parliament.
By the way, being a peasant is not the worst crime in Singapore. The worst
crime is if you were a peasant who owed the government money! That's the
most heinous crime - much much worse than killing someone:
A BUSINESSMAN who fraudulently evaded duty as well as goods and services
tax (GST) on car imports totalling $145,181 has been fined $1.4 million. As
Toh Chee Wee, 36, could not pay the fines, he will serve a default sentence
of 100 weeks in jail.
Bottomline: Don't ever, ever, owe the government any money. On the other
hand, if you are able to bring in money for the government, be it officially
or unofficially (eg. in the form of a "charitable" organisation having $600
million reserves), you will be spared even if the public is outraged by your
golden tap and first-class air travel!
Moral of the story: Pay your protection money now, peasants! For example, if
you were a "religious" leader getting paid too much money, you can try
building a multi million-dollar building in partnership with some
government-owned building company. That will offer you some protection. The
stupidest thing you can do as a "religious" leader is the opposite: pay your
assistant lots of money and give him supplementary credit cards AND then not
paying any protection money to the government! That's penny-wise, pound
foolish. You will end up being made an example for all peasants to see! We
are witnessing that in court right now. Mark my words: the sentence will be
severe, more severe than T.T. Durai's - we gotta teach the peasants a lesson
they will never ever forget: to repeat, PAY YOUR PROTECTION MONEY!
That's "justice" for you, Singapore-style!

SINGAPORE - Singapore's central bank eased monetary policy by
effectively devaluing its currency to counter a record economic slump while
also keeping a lid on domestic interest rates.
The currency is Singapore's main policy instrument, and the central
bank on Tuesday repeated what it had done in previous downturns in 2002 and
2003. It shifted the centre of the secret trade-weighted band for the
Singapore dollar to the existing weak level of the exchange rate basket in
an actual one-off devaluation.
Based on their estimates of where the currency had been trading before
the move, economists said the Singapore dollar might have been devalued by
1.5 to 2 per cent. The currency's rally on Tuesday suggested market
participants had expected a bigger move.
'There had been some expectation that the re-centring would be as much
as a 400 basis points depreciation,' said Claudio Piron, a strategist with
JPMorgan Chase.
Faced with slumping exports, the deepest recession on record and
growing speculation of Singapore dollar depreciation, devaluing the currency
had been the Monetary Authority of Singapore's best option for the
trade-dependent economy..
Other options such as gradually steering the currency lower or
widening the width of the trading band would have stoked speculative selling
of the currency, thereby pushing yields higher.
'A more radical policy action may have been viewed as
counter-productive in terms of operational policy band management and
foreign exchange reserves preservation,' Mr Piron said.
Those moves could stir further market expectations for currency
depreciation, which would have led to withdrawal of local currency supplies
from the system, he said.
Tuesday's monetary easing came as Singapore's economy contracted a
record 11.5 per cent from a year earlier in the first quarter of 2009, more
than a market median forecast of an 8.8 per cent slump. The Ministry of
Trade and Industry expects the economy to shrink 6-9 per cent this year.
'Given all these horrendous numbers, this policy change is not a big
surprise. It is reflecting the free fall in external demand,' said Song Seng
Wun, economist at Malaysian bank CIMB in Singapore.
The Singapore dollar, which has been emerging Asia's second-worst
performing currency this year, strengthened to a two-month high of 1.497
against the US dollar, from 1.515 before the announcement, and was trading
at 1.5036 by 0300 GMT.
'The market was expecting a more aggressive easing policy and it did
not come about. The bet on the Singapore dollar will be less aggressive,'
said Irene Cheung, currency strategist at Royal Bank of Scotland in
Singapore.
Nearing bottom?
The country's gross domestic product in the first three months of the
year fell at a seasonally adjusted, annualised pace of 19.7 per cent, the
ministry said. The central bank said the economy is likely to remain below
its potential growth rate until a decisive recovery in exports.
'MAS will therefore re-centre the exchange rate policy band to the
prevailing level of the S$NEER, while keeping the zero percent appreciation
path,' the central bank said in its twice-yearly monetary policy statement,
referring to the currency's nominal effective exchange rate.
The Monetary Authority of Singapore sets policy by managing the
Singapore dollar in a secret trade-weighted band against a basket of
currencies, instead of setting interest rates.
The bank has to tread a fine line between allowing its currency to
weaken to help exporters while avoiding giving its neighbours the impression
that it is seeking to make its currency more competitive in export markets.
Vietnam has depreciated its dong, while central banks in Thailand and Taiwan
seem to be tolerating weakness in their currencies.
Central banks from Wellington to Bangkok have slashed interest rates
sharply in recent months and some central bankers said they intend to wait
and see how much good their rate-cutting had done to their battered
economies before taking more action.
Singapore eased policy at its last policy review in October for the
first time since 2003 to support an economy that was the first in Asia to
fall into recession last year.
Economists said the economy could be nearing a bottom as its non-oil
exports (NODX) fell 17 per cent year-on-year in March after a record 35 per
cent plunge in January and a 24 per cent fall in February. Shipments to
China jumped 14 per cent in March.
'Although we are seeing some faint heartbeats in the Singapore economy
with better-than-expected March NODX numbers, we have not seen the bottom
yet. With inflation easing and external demand fragile, the shift in policy
remains appropriate,' said CIMB's Mr Song, calling for the Singapore dollar
to weaken to 1.60 by the end of the year. -- REUTERS

SINGAPORE - Singapore's central bank eased monetary policy by
effectively devaluing its currency to counter a record economic slump while
also keeping a lid on domestic interest rates.
The currency is Singapore's main policy instrument, and the central
bank on Tuesday repeated what it had done in previous downturns in 2002 and
2003. It shifted the centre of the secret trade-weighted band for the
Singapore dollar to the existing weak level of the exchange rate basket in
an actual one-off devaluation.
Based on their estimates of where the currency had been trading before
the move, economists said the Singapore dollar might have been devalued by
1.5 to 2 per cent. The currency's rally on Tuesday suggested market
participants had expected a bigger move.
'There had been some expectation that the re-centring would be as much
as a 400 basis points depreciation,' said Claudio Piron, a strategist with
JPMorgan Chase.
Faced with slumping exports, the deepest recession on record and
growing speculation of Singapore dollar depreciation, devaluing the currency
had been the Monetary Authority of Singapore's best option for the
trade-dependent economy..
Other options such as gradually steering the currency lower or
widening the width of the trading band would have stoked speculative selling
of the currency, thereby pushing yields higher.
'A more radical policy action may have been viewed as
counter-productive in terms of operational policy band management and
foreign exchange reserves preservation,' Mr Piron said.
Those moves could stir further market expectations for currency
depreciation, which would have led to withdrawal of local currency supplies
from the system, he said.
Tuesday's monetary easing came as Singapore's economy contracted a
record 11.5 per cent from a year earlier in the first quarter of 2009, more
than a market median forecast of an 8.8 per cent slump. The Ministry of
Trade and Industry expects the economy to shrink 6-9 per cent this year.
'Given all these horrendous numbers, this policy change is not a big
surprise. It is reflecting the free fall in external demand,' said Song Seng
Wun, economist at Malaysian bank CIMB in Singapore.
The Singapore dollar, which has been emerging Asia's second-worst
performing currency this year, strengthened to a two-month high of 1.497
against the US dollar, from 1.515 before the announcement, and was trading
at 1.5036 by 0300 GMT.
'The market was expecting a more aggressive easing policy and it did
not come about. The bet on the Singapore dollar will be less aggressive,'
said Irene Cheung, currency strategist at Royal Bank of Scotland in
Singapore.
Nearing bottom?
The country's gross domestic product in the first three months of the
year fell at a seasonally adjusted, annualised pace of 19.7 per cent, the
ministry said. The central bank said the economy is likely to remain below
its potential growth rate until a decisive recovery in exports.
'MAS will therefore re-centre the exchange rate policy band to the
prevailing level of the S$NEER, while keeping the zero percent appreciation
path,' the central bank said in its twice-yearly monetary policy statement,
referring to the currency's nominal effective exchange rate.
The Monetary Authority of Singapore sets policy by managing the
Singapore dollar in a secret trade-weighted band against a basket of
currencies, instead of setting interest rates.
The bank has to tread a fine line between allowing its currency to
weaken to help exporters while avoiding giving its neighbours the impression
that it is seeking to make its currency more competitive in export markets.
Vietnam has depreciated its dong, while central banks in Thailand and Taiwan
seem to be tolerating weakness in their currencies.
Central banks from Wellington to Bangkok have slashed interest rates
sharply in recent months and some central bankers said they intend to wait
and see how much good their rate-cutting had done to their battered
economies before taking more action.
Singapore eased policy at its last policy review in October for the
first time since 2003 to support an economy that was the first in Asia to
fall into recession last year.
Economists said the economy could be nearing a bottom as its non-oil
exports (NODX) fell 17 per cent year-on-year in March after a record 35 per
cent plunge in January and a 24 per cent fall in February. Shipments to
China jumped 14 per cent in March.
'Although we are seeing some faint heartbeats in the Singapore economy
with better-than-expected March NODX numbers, we have not seen the bottom
yet. With inflation easing and external demand fragile, the shift in policy
remains appropriate,' said CIMB's Mr Song, calling for the Singapore dollar
to weaken to 1.60 by the end of the year. -- REUTERS

SINGAPOREANS have long been suspected to be a dissatisfied bunch - and
now there are numbers to add to that view.
In Robert Half's latest survey of finance professionals, Singapore
ranks second-lowest worldwide for job satisfaction, with only 53 per cent of
local respondents claiming to be satisfied with their job.
Ironically though, their dissatisfaction may stem largely from their
uncertainty over being able to keep their job.
Ranked third-lowest worldwide for satisfaction with job security, only
54 per cent of local respondents said they were satisfied with job security
in their current position.
'As job losses continue to mount, concerns about job security, career
prospects and the ability to maintain a work-family balance as workload
increases are heightened,' said Tim Hird, managing director of Robert Half
Singapore.
'During these tough times, managers must demonstrate strong leadership
in managing their staff, to not just allay their concerns but also to
motivate and encourage them and keep overall employee morale high.'
Other Asians are not much happier in their jobs than Singaporeans,
forming a regional theme of dissatisfaction. Bringing up the rear on the job
satisfaction front, Japan ranked the lowest globally at 47 per cent, while
Hong Kong was third-lowest at 54 per cent.
Worldwide, finance professionals in Dubai were the happiest job-wise,
with 85 per cent claiming to be satisfied.
Singapore's finance professionals also scored low on company loyalty,
with 59 per cent of them saying they felt 'very loyal' or 'rather loyal' to
their firm.
The only other countries in the survey that ranked lower than
Singapore on this count were Hong Kong and Japan with 42 per cent and 21 per
cent respectively.
Not surprisingly, only 11 per cent of local respondents said they plan
to stay in their current job for the next 12 months, the smallest proportion
worldwide.
Forty per cent are either actively looking for another job or plan to
do so in the next 12 months. In Hong Kong - the only country to outrank
Singapore in this area - 45 per cent of respondents plan a job change.
In Singapore, the main reason cited for a job switch was an increase
in pay, for which 35 per cent indicated they would walk. A better work-life
balance came in a distant second, with 21 per cent of respondents citing it
is the reason for a job change.
'Especially in these uncertain times, we are advising both our clients
and candidates to focus less on monetary compensation packages but more on
the content and scalability of jobs,' said Mr Hird.
The survey was conducted by the consulting firm in October last year.
It involved 3,556 finance professionals globally, 200 of whom were in
Singapore.

Thank you for starting this thread. I know of so many people who are
so unhappy about the change in our population composition. We are not
allowed to voice our opinions on this. Teenagers who wrote the
slightest about racial matters online are hauled to court and charged
under the Sedition Act. I notice that those who do are taking efforts
to hide their original IP address. They know they run the risk of
being arrested and charged. I hope the government will take heed of
the postings here seriously. We are the genuine voices of the people
who love our country. We are not whiners, racists, insurgents or
saboteurs. We are Singaporeans who love Singapore.
The Chinese majority in this country is slowly but surely being
chipped away while the media write favorably about how the country is
changing for the better through diversity and cosmopolitanism. In
reality, what is happening is that the Chinese percentage in the
population is falling while that of the Indian is rising. How can this
be right?
People in government seem to be afraid of being labeled as racists by
the Indians. Being accused by the Indians as racists is laughable
because no one can be any more racist than an Indian. Racism is deeply
entrenched in the Indian culture through its caste system. Many have
observed that the Indians are snaky racists, who are good in crying
and protesting as victims of racism while practising racism against
others. They have continually conspiring to attain more political
power. Way back in the 80's, they wanted to promote a fellow Indian
Dhanabalan as the PM. The current MM put a stop to this by saying that
Singapore was not ready for an Indian PM. Next, they succeeded in
promoting S R Nathan as the President and ensured his second term in
office. In the beginning of the year, the Indians again try to promote
a fellow Indian Tharman to be the next PM. This was done through the
newspaper TODAY that they have controlled. It was seen through by some
posters here. Nothing has been done about such open racism.
It is time to tell the Indians in the face that they are not equal to
us Chinese in all respect. We can be friends, but from a long
distance. We don't want them over here in ever increasing numbers.
This is not right. It is not based on meritocracy. If they are that
good, other countries would have fought with us for them. The truth
is, no other country in the region welcomes them as much as Singapore
does. I plead with the government. Please reverse the population trend
as shown in the posted statistics the soonest possible. Put an abrupt
stop to the inflow of Indians!

When LHL first attended the National Day Parade as a Member of
Parliament, when a Chinese song came up, he joined in to sing along

Indians here are politically conscious and active. They will not
hesitate to speak up to defend the interest of their race. Their
public figures and the newspaper under their control will come to
their aid. The Chinese are politically apathetic. They leave politics
to their politicians. The problem is, on issue of race, these
politicians hesitate to speak out, not wanting to be labeled as
racists. Instead they look to the ordinary people to do so. While the
Chinese politicians and the ordinary people look eye-to-eye to see who
will move first, the Indians push forward relentlessly.
Going by the population statistics, it can be seen that the Indians
are winning, hands down, in the racial cold war. Will the Chinese make

I agree, there is an on-going racial cold war in Singapore alright.
The Chinese has bore the brunt of the attack, from ordinary folks to
the most powerful political figure. There was a long stretch on the
SCS when LKY was constantly lambasted as a racist and as a traitor
working for the Japs during WW2. The Indians selectively forget about
Nathan who also work for the Japs during that war. There was also
that Indian nationalist independent fighter Bose who collaborated with
the Japs to use Singapore as a base to train Indians to fight against
the Brits in India. Ironically, this character is being commemorated
as an Indian hero in the history of Singapore.
Ch8 is the favorite target of those anti-Chinese racists. It is always
accused of being too Chinese and not open to other cultures. The
result is that there is no pure Chinese-ness in Ch8 programs. Local
productions carry only English sub-titles. Comperes and participants
in games and talk-shows speak Mandarin punctuated with English.
Overseas movies in Ch8 are from HK, Taiwan and now also Korea and
Malaysia. But over in the Indian channel, overseas movies are without
exception from Bollywood India. Thus the Indians here still have a
cultural umbilical cord to attach them to their Mother India. As more
Indians move over from India, this link is going to grow stronger
until the hearts and minds of the Indians here feel and think like
those in India. I wonder if any of those policy makers realise this.
The Chinese here are too soft with the Indians, always responding to
Indians demands and challenges with acquiescence and ...
I think it is bloody open racial war in the making if the Indians, who
challenge our very existence by asking what's so sacred about our 75%
proportion of the population, are allowed to increase their proportion
at our expense. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure this
out.
Why are so many Indians allowed to come in? Is it because of
corruption, that some high officials in ICA are taking bribes from the
Indians? Is it because there is an affirmative action program for
Indians immigrants? If any, it would be to induce them, all of them
if possible, to get out rather than to come in. Is it because the
authorities are afraid of the Indians crying buckets about racism? If
that is the case, just tell the Indians to go jump into the nearest
sea around Singapore. Yes, we should favor Chinese over Indian in our
immigration policy. No apology required for that.
Indians have molested and raped Chinese women and murdered Chinese
men. Even our kids are not spared. There was is case of a "famous"
Indian actor who intimidated our kids to give up their rightful seats
in a cinema. How despicable. And yet there is no end to more of them
coming in. If this is not put right, ordinary people are going to take
matters into their own hands.

The statistical trend indicated by the table marks the beginning of
the end for Chinese in Singapore. Already, the onslaught of
Westernisation that comes with the English language has turned many
Chinese here into nothing but pseudo-westerners. On top of this,
global politics is against the Chinese in Singapore. The Americans
favors India over China simply because the former conducts free
elections. Therefore, it favors Indians over Chinese everywhere. It
would like to see Singapore get closer to India than China. Being the
overlord of Singapore, the US will have its way to this end.
The Indians in Singapore know this. They know the pecking order of the
day. "Rather a white- than a yellow-man's slave be", that's their
motto of survival in Singapore. Indians in Singapore have no respect
of their fellow Chinese countrymen. They don't have to. All they have
to do is to master the the English language and they can climb as high
as they wish, all the way to the highest office in the land. Once on
top, they are completely away from Chinese influence. Up there,
looking down, they see a lot of Chinese below them, reinforcing their
sense of superiority over the Chinese. For this reason, S R Nathan
will never want to speak a word of Chinese in public, no matter how
much taxpayers money is spent to tutor him. He will not do it even for
the sake of charity, not even if someone were to pledge a certain
amount of money for every Chinese word he will speak in a charity
show. He sees it as his duty to use his power and influence to bring
in more Indians from all over the world. That is the sole purpose he
becomes the President of Singapore.
The hope for the Chinese lies in themselves. They have to awaken to
the fact their majority proportion in the population is not forever.
Breeding will not be able to counter the massive inflow of Indians.
The only way is to cut-off the inflow. The alternative is to perish.

All these talks about a racial cold war and the recent passing away of
the Indian politician JBJ bring a period of Singapore political
history into focus.
JBJ made political history in Singapore when he won the Anson
election. This led to frequent clashes between him and LKY in
Parliament. One of these clashes became big news when LKY referred to
JBJ as a dog he was beating and ridiculed JBJ's name as supposedly
westernised. This raised hell in the Indian community. The Indians
wanted LKY to apologise but he refused. LKY became the arch-enemy
of the Indians. The hatred extends to the whole Chinese race. Thus
the racial cold war between the Indian and the Chinese in Singapore
was started.
The Indians, who mastered the English language well, are heavily into
the media field. Anyone to the dislike of Indians becomes easy target
for the English language press. LKY was constantly in the firing line.
Things became worse for him after he passed the baton to GCT. They
wanted to make sure that he knew he had a "boss" now. The press was
constantly on the look-out for him saying the wrong thing and put a
big, bad spin to it. For a time, he was made to read from speech
prepared for him where he talked about technical things,
engineering, IT and stuff like these. This was unbearable to him so
much so that in the midst of one such speech, he broke out in
exasperation and said something like "I hardly know half of what I am
talking about".
Hatred for LKY extends to the whole Chinese race. Anti-Chinese racism
was blatantly displayed. There were so much negative things in the
English language media about the Chinese - their physical being, their
culture, their mannerism, in fact everything. Chinese language and
media like Ch8 were favorite targets for these anti-Chinese racists.
They want to see the Chinese language disappeared. Streets signboards
with Chinese were replaced with English ones. Chinese are not even
allowed to speak among themselves in public in their own language.
That incident in Borders Bookstore was a historical moment in the
history of race in Singapore. On top of this, there was this public
revelation by S R Nathan about how he chastised his Chinese sub-

injustice perceived. This became a vicious cycle when many Indian
workers fake injuries, even self-inflict injuries. Following the
Indian laborers come the Indian "professionals". These bring along
their whole family trees. Indians presence rapidly shoot up. But there
is no spectre of Indianisation of Singapore, not from the Indians at
least. Instead, they write about a more tolerant and open Singapore,
reminding readers that Singapore was built from immigrants from many
parts of the world.
There are many anecdotes to relate how difficult it is to get along
with Indians but I will just mention a few.
1. There was this Indian journalist recruited from the US to work in
the Straits Times. He couldn't get along with his colleagues. Perhaps
it was because he found it difficult to have to report to yellow-men.
He left and then wrote a piece about Chinese being racist in his blog.
2.There was this case of an Indian from World Vision, an international
charity organisation. Following a news about a road link which was
being built from Singapore to China, he wrote a piece about how that
would cause AIDS to spread from China to the whole of Southeast Asia.
During that time, there was a ceremony in Singapore to welcome a
convoy of cars from India, using a different road link. India was and
still is, the top of the list of nations infected with AIDS.
3. Initially, Indians us the media to discourage race-consciousness.
This is not without good reason. By race, Indian is a minority. So
they write about one-people, one humanity, race is not scientific,
etc. Now that their numbers have increased tremendously, they change
tune. The Indian Minister Balaji had openly declared that he cannot
deny that he is genetically Indian. He is going to inaugurate the
Global Indian Diaspora right here in Singapore. Yet, when an Indian
from a public institute made a survey about race-consciousness among
the various races, it turned out that Indian is the least race-
conscious.

Thank you for starting this thread. I know of so many people who are
so unhappy about the change in our population composition. We are not
allowed to voice our opinions on this. Teenagers who wrote the
slightest about racial matters online are hauled to court and charged
under the Sedition Act. I notice that those who do are taking efforts
to hide their original IP address. They know they run the risk of
being arrested and charged. I hope the government will take heed of
the postings here seriously. We are the genuine voices of the people
who love our country. We are not whiners, racists, insurgents or
saboteurs. We are Singaporeans who love Singapore.
The Chinese majority in this country is slowly but surely being

Dhanabalan as the PM. The current MM put a stop to this by saying that
Singapore was not ready for an Indian PM. Next, they succeeded in
promoting S R Nathan as the President and ensured his second term in
office. In the beginning of the year, the Indians again try to promote
a fellow Indian Tharman to be the next PM. This was done through the
newspaper TODAY that they have controlled. It was seen through by some
posters here. Nothing has been done about such open racism.
It is time to tell the Indians in the face that they are not equal to
us Chinese in all respect. We can be friends, but from a long
distance. We don't want them over here in ever increasing numbers.
This is not right. It is not based on meritocracy. If they are that
good, other countries would have fought with us for them. The truth
is, no other country in the region welcomes them as much as Singapore
does. I plead with the government. Please reverse the population trend
as shown in the posted statistics the soonest possible. Put an abrupt

I agree, there is an on-going racial cold war in Singapore alright.
The Chinese has bore the brunt of the attack, from ordinary folks to
the most powerful political figure. There was a long stretch on the
SCS when LKY was constantly lambasted as a racist and as a traitor
working for the Japs during WW2. The Indians selectively forget about
Nathan who also work for the Japs during that war. There was also
that Indian nationalist independent fighter Bose who collaborated with
the Japs to use Singapore as a base to train Indians to fight against
the Brits in India. Ironically, this character is being commemorated
as an Indian hero in the history of Singapore.
Ch8 is the favorite target of those anti-Chinese racists. It is always
accused of being too Chinese and not open to other cultures. The
result is that there is no pure Chinese-ness in Ch8 programs. Local
productions carry only English sub-titles. Comperes and participants
in games and talk-shows speak Mandarin punctuated with English.
Overseas movies in Ch8 are from HK, Taiwan and now also Korea and
Malaysia. But over in the Indian channel, overseas movies are without
exception from Bollywood India. Thus the Indians here still have a
cultural umbilical cord to attach them to their Mother India. As more
Indians move over from India, this link is going to grow stronger
until the hearts and minds of the Indians here feel and think like
those in India. I wonder if any of those policy makers realise this.
The Chinese here are too soft with the Indians, always responding to
Indians demands and challenges with acquiescence and ...
I think it is bloody open racial war in the making if the Indians, who
challenge our very existence by asking what's so sacred about our 75%
proportion of the population, are allowed to increase their proportion
at our expense. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure this
out.
Why are so many Indians allowed to come in? Is it because of
corruption, that some high officials in ICA are taking bribes from the
Indians? Is it because there is an affirmative action program for
Indians immigrants? If any, it would be to induce them, all of them
if possible, to get out rather than to come in. Is it because the
authorities are afraid of the Indians crying buckets about racism? If
that is the case, just tell the Indians to go jump into the nearest
sea around Singapore. Yes, we should favor Chinese over Indian in our
immigration policy. No apology required for that.
Indians have molested and raped Chinese women and murdered Chinese
men. Even our kids are not spared. There was is case of a "famous"
Indian actor who intimidated our kids to give up their rightful seats
in a cinema. How despicable. And yet there is no end to more of them
coming in. If this is not put right, ordinary people are going to take

The statistical trend indicated by the table marks the beginning of
the end for Chinese in Singapore. Already, the onslaught of
Westernisation that comes with the English language has turned many
Chinese here into nothing but pseudo-westerners. On top of this,
global politics is against the Chinese in Singapore. The Americans
favors India over China simply because the former conducts free
elections. Therefore, it favors Indians over Chinese everywhere. It
would like to see Singapore get closer to India than China. Being the
overlord of Singapore, the US will have its way to this end.
The Indians in Singapore know this. They know the pecking order of the
day. "Rather a white- than a yellow-man's slave be", that's their
motto of survival in Singapore. Indians in Singapore have no respect
of their fellow Chinese countrymen. They don't have to. All they have
to do is to master the the English language and they can climb as high
as they wish, all the way to the highest office in the land. Once on
top, they are completely away from Chinese influence. Up there,
looking down, they see a lot of Chinese below them, reinforcing their
sense of superiority over the Chinese. For this reason, S R Nathan
will never want to speak a word of Chinese in public, no matter how
much taxpayers money is spent to tutor him. He will not do it even for
the sake of charity, not even if someone were to pledge a certain
amount of money for every Chinese word he will speak in a charity
show. He sees it as his duty to use his power and influence to bring
in more Indians from all over the world. That is the sole purpose he
becomes the President of Singapore.
The hope for the Chinese lies in themselves. They have to awaken to
the fact their majority proportion in the population is not forever.
Breeding will not be able to counter the massive inflow of Indians.
The only way is to cut-off the inflow. The alternative is to perish.

All these talks about a racial cold war and the recent passing away of
the Indian politician JBJ bring a period of Singapore political
history into focus.
JBJ made political history in Singapore when he won the Anson
election. This led to frequent clashes between him and LKY in
Parliament. One of these clashes became big news when LKY referred to
JBJ as a dog he was beating and ridiculed JBJ's name as supposedly
westernised. This raised hell in the Indian community. The Indians
wanted LKY to apologise but he refused. LKY became the arch-enemy
of the Indians. The hatred extends to the whole Chinese race. Thus
the racial cold war between the Indian and the Chinese in Singapore
was started.
The Indians, who mastered the English language well, are heavily into
the media field. Anyone to the dislike of Indians becomes easy target
for the English language press. LKY was constantly in the firing line.
Things became worse for him after he passed the baton to GCT. They
wanted to make sure that he knew he had a "boss" now. The press was
constantly on the look-out for him saying the wrong thing and put a
big, bad spin to it. For a time, he was made to read from speech
prepared for him where he talked about technical things,
engineering, IT and stuff like these. This was unbearable to him so
much so that in the midst of one such speech, he broke out in
exasperation and said something like "I hardly know half of what I am
talking about".
Hatred for LKY extends to the whole Chinese race. Anti-Chinese racism
was blatantly displayed. There were so much negative things in the
English language media about the Chinese - their physical being, their
culture, their mannerism, in fact everything. Chinese language and
media like Ch8 were favorite targets for these anti-Chinese racists.
They want to see the Chinese language disappeared. Streets signboards
with Chinese were replaced with English ones. Chinese are not even
allowed to speak among themselves in public in their own language.

Hawkers generally makes lots of money. Consumers are always at the
losing end in Singapore as compared to other countries like Malaysia.
The Singapore hawkers' prices are up forever, I never see them bring
down prices or increase in portion of food even when the whole world
is having a deflation in price now. All these are in line with Govt is
to forever increase in price.

I am just curious, how many security operations that were jeapordiazed
by the filming? Non. How many protesters do you see in Singapore
street? non. It's an agenda to be used against Singaporeans who might
be greatly affected by the recessions to prevent the peasants revolt
against them.
Is changing of security guard at the Istana be considered a security
operation? They are afterall be guarding the highest office of
Singapore and any tourist caught filming the guards be arrested.

SINGAPORE, April 16 (Reuters) - Scientists in Singapore say they have found a way to turn planet-warming carbon dioxide into clean-burning methanol using a process that uses less energy than previous attempts.
The scientists at the state-backed Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology said on Thursday they used non-toxic organocatalysts to make ethanol, a biofuel that is also used as an industrial feedstock.
In a statement, the institute said the team, led by Yugen Zhang, used N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs), an organocatalyst in the chemical reaction with carbon dioxide.
NHCs are stable and the reaction between NHCs and carbon dioxide can take place under mild conditions in dry air, the statement said, adding only a small amount of the catalyst was needed.
The process also used hydrosilane, a combination of silica and hydrogen.
"Hydrosilane provides hydrogen, which bonds with carbon dioxide in a reduction reaction. This carbon dioxide reduction is efficiently catalyzed by NHCs even at room temperature," Zhang said in the statement.
"Methanol can be easily obtained from the product of the carbon dioxide reaction," Zhang added.
Previous attempts to turn CO2 into more useful products have required more energy input and a much longer reaction time, the team said.
But they didn't say how the process could be scaled up to fight climate change by capturing and transforming some of the billions of tonnes of CO2 produced annually by burning fossil fuels. (Reporting by David Fogarty; Editing by David Fox)
